Outfit // Winter Return

 photo IMG_0546.jpg
Woah. It's been a long time! A lot has changed-my hair being one of them. After over two years of being platinum blonde I decided to switch to something that would be a little easier to maintain (and cheaper…). I went for more of an ombre-style blonde and I am really loving it. I think I'll probably keep it for quite some time.

Some things never change. I still love black and white clothes with red lipstick. I've been really into being comfortable this winter-ha! It seems all I want to wear are leggings or jeans with a big, billowy top and boots. I don't care if it's seems slightly lazy, I dig it. :)

Here in the Baltimore area we have experiences quite a bit of snow. I'm probably in the minority around here when I say this but…I love snow. This has been such a great winter. Not to mention I love taking outfit photos in the snow. Something about the white snow, with the bare trees…it's a little magical.

Anyway, I'm going to be sticking to this blogging thing for a while now. So tune in for more outfits and posts! Thank you for still following me! Also, bear with me. My blog looks like a hot mess right now. Updates to come soon :)

Outfit // Garden Girl

So I'm not really in a garden. Ha! But, this outfit made me feel like a bohemian fairy (cause fairies can be that, right?). I broke out my Fall skirt and wore my Summer lace crop top with it. I wasn't sure how the crop-top-over-a-maxi-skirt look would go but I ended up really liking it. It has a super relaxed look and feel to it while still looking put together. It was the perfect choice for my first day at my internship (more on that another day!).
I've been trying to wear my sandals as much as possible lately. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm excited to wear boots. But I know I will have a long time to do all that stuff. For now I'll be soaking in as much no sock weather as I can. It also doesn't hurt that my most favorite boots have been lost for good. Like, seriously I will never find them. I have no idea how one loses combat boots, but I've managed to do just that. So everytime I think about boot season I get really sad D: ::tear::
I also started curling my short hair recently. I thought curly, short hair would be CRAY. But, I don't hate it ;) If I had the time and energy I'm pretty sure I'd do it everyday.

P.S. Did you get your pumpkin spice latte on yet? What are you waiting for??

Welcome Fall!

Outfit // Park Day

Recently I spent some time at Centennial Park in Ellicott City. Grabbed some food, took it to a picnic table, tried to keep baby caterpillars out of my salad, you know, the norm. My friend and I took our iced coffee and walked around the park which was so great! I love those moments where you just get to relax in nature and have good conversation...with coffee (duh.). For those of you that don't know, I think the trail around the lake is about 3 miles long. So, um, lets just say I was regretting the shoe choice I had made.
Gorgeous, huh? I don't appreciate Centennial Park nearly as much as I should.
So with this outfit I wanted to try playing with proportions a little. I chose a long flowy top and short, tight shorts. Between the long sleeve top and the boots I was wearing, I felt like it was a really great Summer to Fall transition outfit. And again, I wore black and white. I really need to mix it up, don't I? Eh, I don't think I'll ever get enough of it :)

outfit // berries + bar food

Okay, so I don't know about you, but sometimes I just love me some bar food. Wings, french fries, etc. So, what could be better than bar food but free bar food? I've been hearing about Bare Bones' free buffet happy hour for awhile and finally got the chance to check it out. I was not disappointed. It was totally great and the bar side of the restaurant (which I haven't been in since the days people were allowed to smoke in restaurants) had a really cool vibe and atmosphere.
In addition to my recent bar food adventure I also went to one of my favorite places-Larriland Farms. It's blackberry season right now and I took full advantage of this (about 4lbs. of berries, people).
After picking them I went and made my very first pie! It wasn't too shabby looking if I don't mind saying so myself :). Besides the fact that as soon as I cut into it it was a gloppy mess, it was great (ha!).
Hey, a girls gotta re-apply, right?
Okay, so my outfit...prints on prints, baby! I went with a pretty monochromatic color scheme but played around with different prints to make the outfit more interesting. And, of course, I wore my fav Summer sandals to go with my other gold accents (watch, necklace). To be honest, I probably will never wear this shirt again. It was a goodwill purchase and I loved it on the rack. But, creating a really great, flattering outfit is all about knowing your body and this girl's got some broad shoulders. While boxy cuts may look great on some people, they aren't the best for me. Ya live, ya learn! :)

outfit // i'm back

What the what?? Why has is been SO long since I've blogged? I've seriously missed this and am super excited to get back to doing something that I love! The past 5 months have been just a little insane. As some of you may know, I was dealing with some pretty painful back issues along with a lot of really huge life changes/decisions. But, I am so ready to get back on the horse and start some serious postin'!
So, on to the important stuff...FOOD. This past week a new bakery and coffee shop opened up near my home in Ellicott City called Shilla Bakery. So, obviously I went for the grand opening. Let's get one thing straight-I am fairly picky when it comes to bakeries. I mean, most are just okay, right? Um, not this one! The inside was beautiful and they had samples of almost everything they make! Everything was inexpensive and the coffee was pretty fantastic. Definitely going there again and again.
Okay, outfit details...black, white, and red. Kinda my thing. I figured I'd start my return to blogging with an Allie classic. I've also been loving wearing my gold sandals with just about everything. They are super comfy and add a little shine and pizazz to every outfit I wear! You may also have noticed that my hair is just a little different. I got 10 inches chopped off since the last time I blogged. I was ready for a change-go big or go home!
So, after the bakery and coffee shop extravaganza I went to the Howard County Fair. It's the only time of the year I get to feel like a country girl and I embrace it. There is pretty much a contest for everything you can think of. Food, flowers, clothing, photography, lamb wool (I'm not joking...). It's so great.
Oh, did I not mention there were pig races, too? 'Cause, yeah, that happened.
Again, apologies for how long it's taken me to blog again! SO ready for this! :)

outfit // swans

Photobucket
This dress was meant to be. A couple of months ago, when I first saw it on ModCloth's site, I fell in love with it. At the time I had been waiting on a couple of checks to come through from work and was currently broke. I decided it wasn't practical and cried myself to sleep (okay, maybe that didn't happen).  A month later the dress was restocked in my size when I actually had money. Ta da! It's pretty much my favorite dress to wear right now. Also, can I be a hat person, please? I'm going to make that happen.

Now, I don't usually wear this much black. But I was really digging the street style edgy look. To me this look is kind of rocker girl meets quirky weirdo. I mean, I have swan heads on my dress. I also haven't worn my blazer in a bajillion years. I forgot how much sophistication is brought to an outfit with the addition of one of these puppies.

I found this random place at Columbia Mall that had this really cool mural goin' on. I instantly knew I had to have my blog pics taken there. I love when you just happen upon awesomeness. My photographer this week was the lovely Brittanie Lawson who always manages to take creative pictures for my posts. Thanks Britt!
Hope you all are having a fantastic weekend!

outfit // the best

Photobucket
Okay, I've officially found the best dress ever made. It's super comfy and flattering and all around amazing (except for the warmth factor...this is definitely one to save for spring...). I was getting all dolled up when I looked outside and noticed it was snowing. So, like any good fashion blogger I ran outside for pictures :)

And, to do some twirling. C'mon, I'm in a frilly long dress, let me have my Kim moment.

I wore this outfit this past weekend to the Hippodrome in Baltimore! My Aunt and Uncle spoil me rotten because I'm everyones only girl (I don't have any girl cousins or siblings). Every Christmas I get to see a show and then sometimes they let me pick an extra one. This year-Beauty and the Beast. Next year? Sister Act :) We went to this cute little café attached to the theater and then went upstairs to relax in the lounge. When we got to our seats in the theater we noticed that every chair had a chocolate rose taped unto it. Perfect!

I kept it pretty simple. I think accents of gold next to a charcoal color is really beautiful. And, my awesome rose gold watch (that I'm in love with) goes with literally everything.

We're supposed to be getting a foot of snow this coming weekend in Baltimore! We'll see! Enjoy your week guys!!
